Arches Aquarelle is recognised by artists as one of the most prestigious watercolour papers with a history that spans many centuries. Using the traditional watercolour base, the paper has an even natural grain and a felt-marked finish that gives the paper a pronounced texture. Arches Aquarelle Rag is particularly suited for images with large blocks of solid colour and large prints. Allows a good rendering of the three-dimensionality of the original artwork.

Arches Aquarelle Rag is manufactured using 100% cotton which contributes to the papers natural beauty and feel. The pure white base does not contain any optical brightening agents (OBAs).

Arches Aquarelle Rag is a prestigious printmaking paper and offers artists, printmakers and photographers alike the ability to create digital fine art prints on an authentic Arches paper for both limited and open edition work.

The unique inkjet receiving layer, specifically developed by Arches for digital printing, produces prints with superb colour rendition, deep blacks and natural whites offering photographers, artists and printmakers the opportunity to create images with a superb tonal range, excellent highlights and mid-tones.

The 310gsm paper has excellent bulk making for very stable prints. An ideal medium for portfolios and prints for exhibitions and for sale.

Arches master papermakers have been producing very high-quality fine art papers since 1492, and today Arches is the only paper mill in France using a traditional cylinder mould process for all its papers, including Arches Aquarelle Rag. Quality is close to that of paper made by craft methods. The slow turning of the cylinder enables the fibres to be deposited evenly and spread in all directions over the wire. The paper is therefore more homogeneous and has good dimensional stability.

Arches Aquarelle Rag has a pure white tone and is completely free of any optical brighteners (OBAs). In fact, Arches Aquarelle Rag papers (along with Arches 88 and Arches BFK Rives Pure White) are the whitest papers on the market not to contain OBAs and provide good colour rendering and a printed image with unequalled character.

With alkaline reserve, acid-free and no optical brighteners (permanent in accordance with ISO 9706) Arches Aquarelle Rag papers are also ideal for conservation applications.

100% cotton. Textured single side coated matte surface, that is mould made (the finest and oldest paper-making technique). pH neutral.

Optimised for pigment inks, compatible with dye inks.
